The New York Time's investigation into Harvey Weinstein's sexual misconduct is set for the big screen.

Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan are in final negotiations for the roles of journalists Meghan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, authors of the book She Said - which details their groundbreaking story in which hundreds of women came forward against Weinstein. The pair were later awarded the esteemed Pulitzer Prize in journalism for their work on the story.

The investigation shook Hollywood in 2017 as the producer was exposed for decades of sexual misconduct and has been seen as one of the key moments behind the #MeToo movement.

The book released in 2019 details the reporting process the women went through, which included finding and confirming settlements with victims and encouraging celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose McGowan, and Ashley Judd to share their stories with the public, as well as Weinstein's own attempts to sabotage their investigation.

The article lead to Weinstein's dismissal from The Weinstein Company and he has since been sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and sexual assault against two women.

Weinstein still maintains his innocence and has appealed the conviction after seeking a new trial.

The movie will focus less on the shamed producer but more so on the investigation that took place by a team of women, which uncovered years of sexual harassment and assault allegations and the beginnings of a social movement. Ronan Farrow's own New Yorker article and subsequent book and podcast, Catch and Kill, also describes the incredible lengths he went to in order to expose Weinstein and the network of power (and Israeli Black Cube agents) which attempted to thwart his efforts.

Emmy Award-winning director Maria Schrader will be in the director's seat, with the script written by Oscar winner Rebecca Lenkiewicz.

Megan Ellison and Sue Naegl will be producing the film with Annapurna alongside Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B.

Universal’s Vice President of Production Lexi Barta will oversee the project for the studio.
