Hollywood's Harvey Weinstein was moved to Bellevue Hospital in New York following an appeals court ruling
The former movie producer Harvey Weinstein has been hospitalised in New York City, just days after the New York Court of Appeals overturned his 2020 rape conviction.
Weinstein's attorney, Arthur Aidala, stated that Weinstein was admitted to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan for medical tests. Aidala addressed Weinstein's health concerns, saying, "He's got a lot of problems. He's somewhat of a train wreck health wise."
According to Frank Dwyer, a spokesperson with the New York City Department of Correction, Weinstein remains in custody at Bellevue Hospital.
Juda Engelmayer, Weinstein's spokesperson, told Variety, "Mr. Weinstein has a history of high blood pressure, heart issues, and a myriad of other health conditions."
Weinstein was previously held at the Walsh Regional Medical Unit (RMU), part of the Mohawk Correctional Facility. The trip from the RMU to New York City led to health complications, triggering the need for closer medical monitoring.

The New York Court of Appeals overturned Weinstein's conviction in a 4-3 ruling, finding prejudice by allowing women to testify about allegations that were not part of the case. The court has ordered a new trial.
Judge Jenny Rivera, in the court’s majority opinion, stated, “We reaffirm that no person accused of illegality may be judged on proof of uncharged crimes that serve only to establish the accused’s propensity for criminal behavior.”
In the 2020 New York case, Weinstein was convicted of criminal sexual assault in the first degree and rape in the third degree. He was serving his 23-year prison sentence at the Mohawk Correctional Facility in Rome, N.Y.
Weinstein is also facing a separate conviction in Los Angeles, where he was found guilty of rape in 2022 and sentenced to an additional 16 years in prison. However, Weinstein was acquitted in the Los Angeles trial on charges involving one of the women who testified in his New York case.
