The hit song, ‘Hey There Delilah’ by rock band, Plain White T’s, is set to become a TV series.
The song was the third single off their 2006 album All That We Needed. Though, it didn’t achieve widespread success until over a year later, in June 2007 when it rose to the top of the Billboard charts, becoming the band’s first Number 1 single in the US. It went Platinum in the UK, US, Germany, Canada and Australia and was nominated for 2 Grammys. To this day, it is the band’s most successful song.
The band’s frontman, Tom Higgenson, and musical theatre book-writer and lyricist, Jeremy Demson, have been working alongside Lively McCabe Entertainment and Primary Wave to develop this project. The idea is that it will be a romantic dramedy that will expand the story presented in the song. The song is about an artist who writes to Delilah, a woman he loves, about how someday he will be able to support her and they will be together. The show will be a modern tale about a long-distance relationship.
The project has been described as a modern fairy-tale. When asked about it, Higgenson said "It’s been more than a decade since 'Hey There Delila' was released, and people always ask me about it. A whole lot of people really connected with that song, and I’m very proud of that. I’m so excited to have an opportunity to give a new generation the chance to form their own connection with the song and fall in love with its story through this new project.”

Lively McCabe Entertainment’s co-president Michael Barra also said “’Hey There Delilah’ is a perfect example of an iconic story song that has introduced characters and a premise to a massive multigenerational audience and is begging to be expanded into a full-length story for contemporary television audiences.”
Plain White T’s recently signed on with a new record label (Fearless Records) and are currently getting ready to release their newest album at the end of the month, Parallel Universe. Reports say that the shows producers will be pitching the show to studios later this month.
