Hot For 2020 Actors: Clare Dunne
Roe McDermott looks at the Irish film and TV talent set for a huge 2020.
The Ballinteer actress has amassed an incredible list of theatre credits at home and in the UK, performing O’Casey at the Abbey, Shakespeare at the Donmar, and Chekhov at the Lyric Hammersmith. She’s bringing her first screenplay, Herself, to the screen with director Phyllida Lloyd, who also directed Mamma Mia! and The Iron Lady. Herself will have its premiere at Sundance Film Festival this month, and sees Dunne star as Sandra, a woman who is frustrated by the housing crisis. In her determination to change her two young daughters’ lives for the better, and left without any other options, she decides to build a home herself from scratch.
