We look back at some of the ups and downs of 2018.
2018 started off on a sombre tone following the death of Dolores O'Riordan. A monumental figure in Irish music, her passing sent shockwaves throughout the music world. Despite the sad news, The Cranberries' lead singer's legacy meant that she was fondly remembered, by those who knew her best, in our first issue of the year.
2018 was also a year of momentous occasions on the domestic, socio-political front. After decades of supporting the introduction of abortion services in Ireland, and following the campaigning of thousands of fantastic activists, the 8th Amendment was finally repealing in March this year. Four months later, Ireland re-elected Michael D. Higgins as President by a landslide. In the midst of these events, various protests surrounding the housing crisis, as well as the Pope's lukewarm visit to Ireland, showed that progressive ideas have taken root in this country, even as the establishment are resisting them with everything they can.
