The special guests for the December episodes of Saturday Night Live have been revealed – including Paul Mescal and Hozier.

Fresh from the success of Gladiator II, Paul Mescal will host this Saturday's show, on December 7. His episode will feature Shaboozey as the special musical guest.

Hozier, meanwhile, is set to perform on SNL on December 21, as part of an episode hosted by comedy legend Martin Short.

Chris Rock will host the December 14 show, with Gracie Abrams performing.

The award-winning late-night comedy showcase features music from the biggest names in the business – including recent performances from Coldplay, Stevie Nicks, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Charli XCX.

Paul Mescal and Hozier's upcoming appearances on SNL will cap off what's been another landmark year for both Irishmen. Gladiator II – which stars the Maynooth actor – has been a major box office hit, while the Co. Wicklow singer-songwriter's single 'Too Sweet' has topped the charts in Ireland, the US, the UK, Australia, Iceland, New Zealand and Norway.

Saturday Night Light airs on NBC on Saturdays at 11.30pm (Eastern Time).
