The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) have announced the Rising Star nominees and they include an impressive lineup of Irish talent who have "drive, vision and skill, both in front of and behind the camera."
The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) announced the Rising Star nominees which showcase the exciting range of talent from Irish creators, artists and storytellers. The announcement is in partnership with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.
The lineup of nominees includes director Kathryn Ferguson (Nothing Compares), actor Danielle Galligan (Lakelands), director Aoife McArdle (Severance), actor Daryl McCormack (Bad Sisters, Good Luck To You, Leo Grande) and actor Éanna Hardwicke (Lakelands).
Saoirse Ronan, John Michael McDonagh, Sarah Greene, Domhnall Gleeson, Michael Fassbender, Nicola Coughlan and more are among the previous winners of the Rising Star Award.
The IFTA website stated, “Ireland has recently enjoyed a record-breaking year in terms of film and television production.
“The past year saw Irish directors, writers, producers, cast and crew create world-class stories that have engaged audiences around the globe.”

The Chief Executive of IFTA, Áine Moriarty, said, “These five superb individuals are a true reflection of the brilliant new wave of Irish talent who are proving themselves to be world-class screen professionals.
“This prestigious Award recognises excellence in their skill and achievement and bolsters the next exciting phase of their careers. Congratulations to each of them.”

The 20th Anniversary IFTA Awards will be held on May 7 at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre. The ceremony hosted by Deirdre O'Kane and costume designer Joan Bergin will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
