Indie Cork Film Festival Kicks Off This Weekend
The independent film festival is in it's sixth year and will run from Sunday 7 October to 14 October.
The sixth Indie Cork Film Festival will get underway this weekend, showcasing the talent of independent Cork filmmakers, acting as a showcase for the Cork Film community, alongside some first rate international independent pictures.
The opening film will be Smuggling Hendrix, which won Best Feature Film at the Tribeca Film Festival and the closing film will be Italian feature film Daughter Of Mine. All screenings, workshops, music events and talks will take place in Dalí Bar (previously The Pavillion Cinema).
Music plays a big role in this year’s festival with a feast of great independent music acts lined up all week. IndieCork music programmers, Tony Langlois and Cormac Daly, have put together an eclectic mix of all that’s happening in music currently – including the rich and vibrant experimental music scene in Cork that will feature internationally renowned Danny McCarthy, Karen Power and Harry Moore. Special guests include Áki Ásgeirsson from Iceland, joining the trio for a night of experimental and electronic music. From metal, to hip-hop to African vibes, IndieCork’s music programme gives a true flavour of what’s happening in music right now.
