Two Irish actors have been placed as part of the nominees for prestigious RTS Awards
Irish actors Máiréad Tyers and Éanna Hardwicke have been nominated for the Royal Television Society RTS Programme Awards in the UK this year.
Tyers is in contention for the Comedy Performance - Female award for her lead role in the Disney+ series Extraordinary, while Hardwicke, also hailing from Cork, is up for the Supporting Actor - Male award for his role in the BBC true crime series The Sixth Commandment.
The Graham Norton Show is in the running for the Comedy Entertainment category, and BBC Northern Ireland's coverage of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final is a nominee in the Sports Programme category.
The award winners will be revealed in London on Tuesday, March 26th, while the RTS Ireland Television Awards will take place in Dublin on Tuesday, March 19th.
As of now, Disney Plus has not announced the renewal of Extraordinary for a third season. However, Máiréad Tyers has signed on for 4 seasons, which should suggest that the creators have plans for more adventures if the series is renewed.

During an interview for The Sixth Commandment, Éanna Hardwicke said: “I’m very inspired by what’s going on in Irish cinema at the moment and I want to be involved as much as I can.” It’s in such a positive place now. More and more it’s part of that European pantheon of film. It’s testament that our stories can resonate on the other side of the world, as much as they can in Ireland.”
The Sixth Commandment is available for streaming on Apple TV, Amazon Video, Google Play Movies, and Sky Store.
Tickets for the event are available from February 27 at https://rts.org.uk/civicrm/event/register?reset=1&id=959
