Ed Sheeran's Subtract has been crowned the fastest selling album of 2023 so far.
Ed Sheeran keeps his unwavering streak of chart-topping albums as Subtract debuts at No.1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart, ahead of Bruce Springsteen's Greatest Hits.
The singer-songwriter's sixth studio album also achieved best-selling vinyl of the week, and hit No.1 in his native UK as well.
In a video posted by Official Irish Charts, Ed accepts his Official Number 1 Album Award humbly and graciously. "To everyone that bought and streamed and listened to Subtract this week, thank you so much for making it number one," he said. "This album means the absolute world to me and I think it's going to be a very, very important album for me for a very, very long time."
The release of Subtract followed its lead single, the Official UK Number 1 'Eyes Closed'. The album was debuted alongside a four-part Disney+ special, The Sum Of It All, tidily wrapping up Ed's decade long Mathematics era.
Subtract will join all of Ed's previous studio albums in topping the Official Albums Chart, including 2011’s +, 2014’s x, 2017’s ÷, 2019’s No. 6 Collaborations Project and 2021’s =.
