The film is a project from the same director of Hozier's 'Take me to Church' music video.
International sales agent Charades has acquired the international sales rights to debut feature from Irish director Brendan Canty, Christy.
The Cork-set film will have its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival this month.
The film stars Danny Power (The Young Offenders) alongside Diarmuid Noyes (Pure Mule: The Last Weekend, Five Minutes of Heaven.)
"Seventeen-year-old Christy (Danny Power) is at a crossroads after he's thrown out of his suburban foster home and moves in with his estranged older half-brother Shane (Diarmuid Noyes)," reads the film's logline.
"As far as Shane is concerned this is a temporary arrangement, but Christy begins to feel at home on Cork's working-class Northside. As he makes friends and begins to let the community in, he also reconnects with his past through his seemingly more corrupting extended family.
Shane wants something better for Christy at any cost, even if it means he must push him away. After so many years apart, the brothers need to now reconcile their turbulent past whilst deciding what the future looks like."

The film also stars Emma Willis (Vikings, The Young Offenders) Alison Oliver, Chris Walley, and Helen Behan.
Christy is inspired by Canty’s acclaimed short film of the same name. His previous work includes the award-winning short For You, starring Barry Keoghan, and the music video for Hozier’s 'Take Me to Church'.
The film is written by Alan O’Gorman from a story by O’Gorman and Canty. It was developed with the mentorship of the director Yann Demange, who also serves as executive producer.
Wildcard, the distributor for the likes of Kneecap, Black 47, The Young Offenders, Cardboard Gangsters, Deadly Cuts and the Oscar-nominated animation Wolfwalkers, will bring the film to Irish cinemas later this year.
