Kate Dolan's 'You Are Not My Mother' is the second Irish film announced for the festival.
Irish Horror fans will be delighted to hear that a film made on these shores, You Are Not My Mother, has been officially selected for the Toronto International Film Festival.
Directed by Kate Dolan, the movie will have its world premiere during the Midnight Madness programme at the event this September, as one of just six films.
"I have always followed the Midnight Madness programme at TIFF ever since I was an aspiring film student," said Kate reacting to the news.
"So many of my favourite films have been in this strand. To have my debut feature premiere here is an absolute dream come true. The pandemic obviously threw up a lot of obstacles but thanks to an extremely hardworking and optimistic cast and crew we have a great film that I’m so excited to share with the world."
The first film directed by the Irishwoman is about a daughter from a North Dublin estate struggling after her mother's disappearance, leaving behind only an abandoned car. Although she quickly returns, something seems amiss.
It will be the second Irish feature directed by a female director at the festival, as Nathalie Biancheri’s Wolf is also in Official Selection this year.

You Are Not My Mother will feature Hazel Doupe, Carolyn Bracken, Ingrid Craigie, Paul Reid and Jordanne Jones in the protagonist roles.
It was developed as part of "Screen Ireland’s inaugural POV production funding scheme for female filmmaking talent."
My debut feature film YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER is having it's world premiere at @mmadnesstiff - I still can't believe this is real. WHAT THE HELL! Thanks again to all the cast and crew who worked their butts off to make this movie. Love you all! 🎃✨😭👻 https://t.co/VYnKzldkrM
