Actor James Woods has had his Twitter account suspended for refusing to delate an offensive tweet.
The actor, who is probably best known for his roles in Once Upon a Time in America, Casino and Videdrome, was given the time-out by Twitter for reposting a political hoax meme back in June, which he's now refusing to delate.
The 71-year-old actor is well-known for using Twitter to share his conservative political views. But, on this occasion, he overstepped the mark by violating Twitter's terms by sharing a hoax campaign encouraging men not to vote in this year’s midterm elections.
You can see the original tweet below in which there's a group of men with a caption reading: "We're making a Woman's Vote Worth more by staying home."
James Woods said he received an email from Twitter saying the tweet “has the potential to be misleading in a way that could impact an election”.
“Free speech is free speech — it’s not Jack Dorsey’s version of free speech,” James Woods told the Associated Press. Jack Dorsey is co-founder and CEO of Twitter.

“The irony is, Twitter accused me of affecting the political process, when in fact, their banning of me is the truly egregious interference.
"Because now, having your voice smothered is much more disturbing than having your vocal cords slit. If you want to kill my free speech, man up and slit my throat with a knife, don’t smother me with a pillow.”
James Woods was warned that he would remain locked out of his account until he agrees to delate the tweet. He was also warned that he could end up receiving a permanent ban from Twitter if he was to post any type of inflammatory posts in the future.
This is the tweet @RealJamesWoods was locked for.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if the “Streisand Effect” kicked in and it was retweeted 10,000 times?
Retweet at your peril. @jack is watching... 👀#FREEJAMESWOODS pic.twitter.com/eIZpGkOk6A— Sara Miller (@Millerita) September 21, 2018
