New acting project for Janelle Monáe
The critically acclaimed Amazon series Homecoming is getting a second season. But instead of Julia Roberts, who brilliantly starred in the first season, singer and actress Janelle Monáe will take the lead in the continuation of the psychological thriller.
Roberts only had a one-season deal to play the role of social worker Heidi Bergman, so the production company had to look for a replacement for the Hollywood star that they now found in Janelle Monáe. Nevertheless, Roberts stays attached to the project as an executive producer.
Janelle Monáe, who starred in movies such as Hidden Figures and Moonlight, shared her excitement on Twitter, writing: "Excited and ready for this wild ride".

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Monáe will play "a tenacious woman who finds herself floating in a canoe, with no memory of how she got there - or even who she is". The series also continues the storyline of Audrey Temple (Hong Chau) who was seen taking mysterious medicine in a post-credit scene.
Previously, Janelle Monáe stunned the crowd at the Trinity College Summer Series with a musically and visually compelling show.
