Aniston’s production company is gearing up to create a new version of the 1980 Dolly Parton office comedy for a modern day audience.
Jennifer Aniston’s production company, Echo Films, are set to reimagine the classic comedy film 9 to 5 for a 21st century audience with a script from Juno screenwrite Diablo Cody, adding a modern spin on the 1980 original starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton and Dabney Coleman.
While plot details for the reboot have yet to be revealed, the original film followed three women who teamed up to exact revenge on their sexist, egotistical boss.

The hit office satire, directed by Colin Haggins and written by Patricia Resnick, prompted a 1982 ABC series of the same name along with a 2022 documentary entitled Still Working 9 to 5, with Parton, Tomlin and Fonda that explored the film’s lasting impacts. Dolly Parton also collaborated on a Broadway musical adaptation of the film in 2009, which featured the film’s iconic title track ‘9 to 5’.
Aniston worked with Parton recently on 2018’s beauty pageant comedy Dumplin, for which they co-song the featured song ‘Push and Pull’.
