Bob The Builder , a new animated film will be produced by Jennifer Lopez and Anthony Ramos, as well as star Ramos as Bob.
25 years ago, in April of 1999, CBBC released their hit animated series entitled Bob The Builder, which will now be transformed into an animated film.
Bob, who started as a masonry, would take his business partner Wendy, other assorted friends and the audience to different construction sites where they would help with renovations, construction and repairs.
The show was meant to teach the viewers about conflict resolution, cooperation and other virtues to kids in a fun and entertaining manner.
The film will be written by Felipe Vargas and produced by Jennifer Lopez and will star Anthony Ramos in the role of Roberto, also known as Bob, who is a chippy construction worker sent to Puerto Rico for a major construction project. However, Bob has to grapple with the effects of the construction and how it affects the island.
“Pairing Anthony and Felipe’s genius vision for the story will capture this beloved character in a manner that audiences who grew up with Bob will recognise, and all-new audiences will enjoy,” said the president of Mattel Films, Robbie Brenner.

Ramos has tried to capture Bob’s memorable can-do attitude adding that pieces of the film were inspired by his own life. “A movie about friends working together, a celebration of a beautiful home they share, and how love can help to conquer any obstacle in your way.” Ramos said. “Can we fix it? Yes, we can!”
The film will also “celebrate the vibrant and colourful textures of the Caribbean Latin nations and their people,” said the director of the film, whose name has yet to be released.
Mattel, the toy company that owns the rights to Bob The Builder will be funding the project. Mattel bought the rights to Bob The Builder in 2011 for $620 million along with childhood classic show Thomas & Friends.
After the success of their blockbuster film Barbie, Mattel Films has announced a series of toy-based films that they will create. These include movies such as Bob The Builder, but also American Girl, Hot Wheels, Polly Pocket and Thomas & Friends: The Movie.
