He reviewed six films in a day, three from director Ken Loach.
British politician Jeremy Corbyn has joined the film social media platform Letterboxd, logging six films in a single day and awarding each one a five-star rating. His selections include Ken Loach's The Wind That Shakes the Barley, I, Daniel Blake, and The Old Oak.
Corbyn praised Cillian Murphy for a "superb performance" on The Wind That Shakes The Barley, a historical epic about the Irish Civil War. He shared "I remember showing this in a community centre in our constituency, and Ken came to talk to us about how he made the film. Thank you Ken!"
In his review of Loach’s 2016 drama I, Daniel Blake, Corbyn wrote, “Government ministers should watch this film to understand the human cost of welfare cuts. Well done Ken for this moving masterpiece.”
For Loach’s last film The Old Oak, he reflected on its message, writing: “Made me think about the refugees I have met throughout my life and the terrible ordeal they go through.
"We went to see it together in the cinema, and gave us a sense of empowerment and hope in a kinder world. Ken provokes people to think positively. That can be an unstoppable force.”

Beyond Loach's works, he also gave five star reviews to Matthew Warchus's 2014 movie Pride saying "Solidarity at its best", as well as the 1974 adaptation of The Great Gatsby, which he said “shows the barrenness of greed and wealth”.
He also logged Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, adding a spoiler warning before writing:
"Opens up questions about the human existence and the dangerous power of uncontrolled computers. Spoiler - humans beat the computer. Today AI would win! It has the most incredible music."
