BARBIE THE ALBUM releases July 21 alongside Barbie the movie, directed by Greta Gerwig.
Colombian singer-songwriter KAROL G has joined a star studded line up on the soundtrack of Greta Gerwig’s upcoming movie Barbie. KAROL G yesterday released the video for her new song, 'WATATI', featuring rapper Aldo Ranks.
The song is an upbeat and lively reggae anthem, and suitably fits the Barbie universe. The song’s video follows the typical Barbie colour scheme, with bright pink a main theme throughout. KAROL G dyes her hair pink for the video, and is seen in a variety of dazzling outfits.
The high-energy anthem’s music video was directed by Mike Ho (Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie) starring KAROL herself as she enters the actual World of Barbie. Watch the video for WATATI below:
KAROL G’s 'WATATI' will feature on BARBIE THE ALBUM, set to release on July 21, the same day the movie hits cinemas worldwide.

As well as KAROL G’s new reggaeton tune, BARBIE THE ALBUM will feature massive new tracks from an unprecedented lineup of artists including Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, Lizzo, Charli XCX, PinkPantheress, Ava Max, Dominic Fike, Khalid, The Kid LAROI, Tame Impala, HAIM, GAYLE and FIFTY FIFTY feat. Kali. Barbie star Ryan Gosling also joins the robust roster of soundtrack artists with his iconic original song performed as his character, Ken.
Barbie is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, with an eclectic mix of fans eager to see director Greta Gerwig’s latest work. Gerwig was nominated for Academy Awards for both Lady Bird in 2017 and Little Women in 2019.
Co-written with Noah Baumbach, the movie is expected to commentate on gender roles and the patriarchy in society, while maintaining a light and witty satirical tone. The movie stars Margot Robbie as Barbie, as well as Ryan Gosling, Emma Mackey, Michael Cera and Will Ferrell among a plethora of A-list actors and musicians.
