The 2021 edition of the Kerry International Film Festival has announced its programme for this year's event, including 15 in-person physical events and 30 online screenings.

On October 14, the festival will open with screening of the latest Gabriel Byrne film Death of a Ladies man (pictured above), before closing with the Irish Language feature Foscadh (Shelter) - winner of Best First Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh.

"We are delighted to be able to bring KIFF back onto the big screen with Cinema Killarney as our main venue," said Festival Director Eibh Collins at the launch.

"We are also thrilled to be returning to Tralee for our closing night film, which will screen at Siamsa Tíre. Running parallel to the in-person programme, we have a robust and exciting online programme streamed from the KIFF website to audiences’ devices-of-choice. KIFF endeavours to ensure that those who cannot travel, or those who are not yet ready for travel in the current phase of the pandemic, will still be able to enjoy the best of KIFF from the comfort of their own homes."

As part of the festival, Academy Award winning producer Kathleen Kennedy will receive the 2021 Maureen O'Hara Award. There will be a special 'In Conversation' interview with Kennedy hosted by producer Rebecca Flanagan (Smother, Handsome Devil) which will be available to watch online from October 11.

A short film featuring Damien Dempsey, Love Yourself Today, will also screen at the festival as part of the New Irish Shorts Feature Films’ and Documentaries section of the lineup.
