Fingernails premiers on November 3, 2023 on Apple TV+.
Kerry-born actress Jessie Buckley's performance in Apple TV's Fingernails has been teased through a clip released from the upcoming romantic drama.
Also starring Riz Ahmed, Jeremy Allen White, and Luke Wilson, the film will be released globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, November 3, with some cinemas also being lucky enough to feature the soon-to-be hit.
Best known from her BAFTA-nominated presentation in Wild Rose, the 33-year-old Irish woman, plays Anna, who falls in love with Ryan - played by Jeremy Allen White. Despite their love being "proven" by a controversial new technology, Anna still has doubts about the relationship and opts to take a position at a love testing institute, where she meets Amir, played by Riz Ahmed.

Fingernails sounds sci-fi heavy on the surface, but the premise is fairly simple. You submit yourself to a research facility which rips you and your lover’s fingernails off, which are then put into a machine - somewhat resembling a microwave - and the results of the data determine how in love you really are. The data can be found from here, because, as the film reveals in an opening preamble attributed to an unknown scientist, love troubles are located in the nailbed.
Taking a job at the Love Institute, run by Luke Wilson's eccentric character, Anna participates in partnership building exercises which help couples to decide if they’re truly meant for each other, before they take the final test, which has amassed some fear in Anna and Ryan’s social circle.
Meanwhile, Anna begins wondering how failsafe the Love Institute’s test really is, as she falls more and more for her charming colleague Amir, wondering if it’s possible to be in love with two people at once.
Remarkably, the films shuns any use of cell phones or any 21st century onscreen technology.
Set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month, Fingernails has the acclaimed Cate Blanchett on board among the producers, and with a stellar cast, there's no doubt the romantic drama will be fantastic.
