It's been another milestone weekend for the West Belfast trio
Following Friday night's IFTA success in Dublin - Best Director for filmmaker Rich Peppiatt, Costume Design, Editing and Casting awards were won - Kneecap are celebrating Peppiatt bagging an Outstanding Debut By A British Writer, Director Or Producer gong at the BAFTAS, which took place last night in London.
“In Ireland, but also here, there are Irish language classes oversubscribed everywhere," Peppiatt told The Standard newspaper on the red carpet. “People are setting up meetings in pubs to be able to talk Irish. Ultimately, any time you can get it out of schools and onto the streets like the boys have, I think that bodes well for the future of it.
“I hope there will be lots more Irish language films and filmmakers standing here in the coming years.”
Unless we've missed it, there's been no congratulatory message yet from Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch or, indeed, any senior British politician.
Their semi-autobiographical Kneecap movie had also been nominated for Best British Film, Best Editing, Film Not In The English Language, Best Original Screenplay and Best Casting. Before hitting the red carpet, the West Belfast trio posted this typically understated message:

We’re at the BAFTAs later - hopefully we steal a few to take back to Ireland.
Don’t forget the British government still occupy Ireland and they’re flying spy missions over Gaza as we speak to help Zionist fanatics bomb kids.
