“Reading these stories reminds me what a treasure – and mindfuck – Hunter S. Thompson’s immortal words continue to be,” said Ulrich.
Metallica co-founder and drummer Lars Ulrich has written the foreword for an updated edition of Hunter S. Thompson’s Screwjack.
The collection of short stories was originally released in 1991 but had an extremely limited run of around 300 copies. It was published once more in 2000.

“Beyond psyched to have had the opportunity to write an introduction for the latest edition of Hunter S. Thompson’s ’91 collection of short stories, Screwjack,” said Ulrich on an Instagram post sharing the news.

A legendary writer and founder of Gonzo journalism, Hunter S. Thompson is most well-known for his seminal 1972 work Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The book was later adapted for the big screen in 1998, with a film that starred his personal friend Johnny Depp as the author alongside Benicio Del Toro as Thompson’s lawyer.
Hunter S. Thompson died in 2005 at his Colorado property as a result of self-inflicted gun wounds.
