"I think it’s a wonderful way for audiences to experience Hildur Guðnadóttir‘s haunting and immersive score while bearing witness to Joaquin Phoenix’s descent into madness as Arthur,” said director Todd Phillips.
A special screening of the award-winning film Joker is coming to Dublin on tour, accompanied by a full orchestra playing composer Hildur Guðnadóttir’s captivating score live. The tour will begin at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on May 19.
In Joker, Arthur Fleck, played by Joaquin Phoenix, tries to navigate life in the complex Gotham City. When he finds himself on a downward spiral, Fleck’s decisions become progressively worse, leading to a chain reaction of chaos.
Guðnadóttir’s music further brings Phoenix’s vivid portrayal of Fleck to life in this limited time experience. She is an acclaimed composer and the first-ever solo female winner of the Golden Globe for Best Original Score, also known for her work on HBO’s mini-series Chernobyl.

“When we recorded the music, the orchestra brought such depth and detailed attention to the performances that we were all literally holding our breaths during most of the recording sessions,” Guðnadóttir said. “I’m so happy to get to go there again and for an audience to experience that too.”
Tickets are on sale this Friday, February 7 at 9am for €69.95.
