"Couldn’t be happier to be part of the Walsh family," said Louisa Harland.
Louisa Harland, Máiréad Tyers, and Stefanie Preissner will feature in the recently announced cast for The Walsh Sisters, a new comedy-drama series based on author Marian Keyes' best-selling novels.
RTÉ have announced the cast for the series' first season, currently in production. The season is based on two of Keyes' famous novels, Rachel's Holiday and Anybody Out There.
The Walsh Sisters is set in Dublin and follows a dysfunctional-yet-loveable family of five sisters, a devout mother and a bemused father. Production of the series was first announced by RTÉ last December.
The cast features Louisa Harland (Derry Girls, Renegade Nell, Love/Hate) as troubled sister Anna; BAFTA-nominated Máiréad Tyers (Extraordinary, My Lady Jane) as the fearless youngest sister Helen; Stefanie Preissner (Solpadeine is My Boyfriend, Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope) as 'mammy's favourite' sister Maggie; Caroline Menton (Oddity) as fan-favourite character, sister Rachel; and Danielle Galligan (House of Guinness, Spilt Milk) as eldest sister Claire.
Other cast members include An Cailín Ciúin's Carrie Crowley as mammy Walsh, and Legends of the Fall's Aidan Quinn, as the father.
"Couldn’t be happier to be part of the Walsh family," Louisa Harland told RTÉ. "These books mean so much to so many."

"Rachel is such a beloved character that has resonated with me and countless others around the world for nearly two decades," said Caroline Menton. "Hers is a story of hope and I feel so privileged to get the opportunity to bring Rachel to life and be a part of bringing Marian Keyes’ iconic Walsh family to the screen."
The six-part series will be directed by Ian Fitzgibbon, known for Irish sitcoms like Hullraisers and Moone Boy.
Marian Keyes is an Irish author whose novels have sold more than 35 million copies. She has also won three Irish Book Awards: 'Irish Popular Fiction Book' for This Charming Man in 2009, 'Irish Popular Non-Fiction Book' for Making It Up As I Go Along in 2016, and 'Author of the Year' in 2021.
The Walsh Sisters is scheduled to air this autumn on RTÉ, followed by BBC iPlayer and BBC One. The series was commissioned by RTÉ, and has been produced by Metropolitan Films International and Cuba Pictures, with the collaboration of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and the BBC.
