The fan favourite film 'Magic Mike' is taking to a different stage as an original musical, debuting in Boston later this year.
Channing Tatum is taking on a new project. The actor announced earlier this week that he will be producing Magic Mike the Musical along with Steven Soderbergh, Gregory Jacobs, Nick Wechsler, Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan.
Tatum shared his thoughts on taking the lead role when the film was first released in 2012, “When we were shooting Magic Mike, I looked at myself in a thong and thought: ‘well Chan, say goodbye to your career!’"
"So the idea that seven years later a Pulitzer Prize-winning creative team would be making a full-fledged musical prequel is definitive proof that God loves strippers," he continued. "I couldn’t be more excited about the next chapter in the Magic Mike story. So get ready, Boston."

The original musical will premiere at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre in autumn 2019, with a later stint on Broadway.
The story will follow Mike Lane, a struggling student that turns to male entertainment for extra cash, with inevitable complications. The musical adaption takes a prequel approach with events taking place before Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL.
