The American actor Jonathan Majors has been ordered to finish a year-long counselling programme but avoided jail time
In a case that has cast a shadow over his career, actor Jonathan Majors, known for his roles in Creed III, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and other films, has been sentenced to probation after being convicted of misdemeanour assault. The sentencing comes following an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in March 2023.
Majors, 34, had faced up to a year behind bars after being convicted by a Manhattan jury. The conviction resulted from an incident in which Jabbari accused Majors of assaulting her in the backseat of a car, alleging that he hit her head with his open hand and twisted her arm behind her back.
During a testimony, Jabbari tearfully addressed the court, expressing her belief that Majors remained a danger to others and had not accepted responsibility for his actions. “He’s not sorry. He has not accepted responsibility, ” she said. “He will do this again and he will hurt other women. He believes he is above the law.” She also described, “I was so emotionally dependent on him. I became a different person around him – small, scared and vulnerable.” Majors maintained his innocence throughout the trial, claiming that Jabbari was the aggressor and that he was merely attempting to regain his phone and escape safely.
The jury ultimately convicted Majors on one assault charge and a harassment violation, while acquitting him on other charges.

Marvel Studios severed ties with Majors following the guilty verdict, dropping him from his role as Kang the Conqueror, a character slated to be a main villain in future Marvel productions.
In a statement to the court, Majors' lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, said, that Majors has "lost his whole career,” describing it as "the most challenging year of his life." She also commented that he is, “committed to growing as a person” and will complete the court-mandated programs “with an open heart.”
