The film will include "wall-to-wall Green Day music," says director Lee Kirk.
Mckenna Grace, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee and Sean Gunn have joined the cast of New Year's Rev, the recently announced comedy inspired by and produced with Green Day, Variety reports.
They join a cast that already includes Mason Thames (The Black Phone), Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, The Office stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio and Keen Ruffalo.
The coming-of-age film will follow the members of a band who travel to Los Angeles under the false impression that they are opening for Green Day on New Year's Eve. It will be written and directed by Lee Kirk.
The film's logline says "their road-trip is a rowdy and mischievous jaunt across the country," inspired by the "years of living in a tour van" that were a feature of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool's early days.
“Not only will New Year's Rev include wall-to-wall Green Day music and a concert at the Palladium in Hollywood, it’ll also feature some of the best and funniest actors working today," enthuses director Lee Kirk. "I can’t wait to show this film to the generations of Green Day fans around the world."
