Megan Fox opens up about 'very dark' Jimmy Kimmel interview
Fox describes the 'patriarchal hell' of Hollywood at the time.
Megan Fox has publicly addressed a notorious Jimmy Kimmel interview from 2009, calling it "very dark".
During the interview, Fox discussed the treatment she received from Michael Bay as an extra on the set of Bad Boys II. "They brought me in, and I was wearing a stars and stripes bikini and a red cowboy hat and, like, six-inch heels," she described. Fox was 15 years old at the time. "I was in 10th grade," she adds.
The film could not feature the actress in a club scene, due to her age. As a solution, Bay had her stand "under a waterfall getting soaking wet".
Fox described this encounter as "a microcosm of how Bay's mind works". Kimmel responded with, "“Yeah, well, that’s really a microcosm of how all our minds work, but some of us have the decency to repress those thoughts and pretend that they don’t exist.”
"That was a a microcosm of my whole life and whole interaction with Hollywood. It was just very dark," Fox said, discussing the Kimmel interview in a recent conversation with The Washington Post.
“I was so lost and trying to understand, like, how am I supposed to feel value or find purpose in this horrendous, patriarchal, misogynistic hell that was Hollywood at the time?,” she continued.
The Kimmel interview went viral again in 2019 in the wake of the #MeToo movement, and prior to that, a number of people commented on Bay's inappropriate and misogynistic behaviour and comments towards women.
Fox has starred in many iconic films, including the cult classic Jennifer's Body. Speaking in the same Washington Post interview, the actress said she would be keen to make a sequel to the film. "I mean, they should make it into a TV series. That would be cool," she added.
