Rising indie-pop musician Nell Mescal has also announced her appearance on The Late Late Show this Friday to perform the tune.
Rising Kildare-born talent Nell Mescal sings a melodic and relatable story about the conflicting, complicated emotions about longing for home in her new single 'Homesick'.
The down-tempo track was released via LAB records and produced by Steph Marziano, focusing on similar coming-of-age themes to her first offering. The Irish singer-songwriter's debut single, 'Graduating,' covered the growing pains and difficulties that come with leaving secondary school, like retaining friendships.
“I wrote 'Homesick' on a trip to LA. It's about when I first moved to London from Ireland and really missed home, but also being determined to stick it out so it doesn’t look like I failed at moving away,” explains Nell.
“The lyrics give a bit of insight to how hard it is to move away at a young age and the loneliness that comes with it, while the music is upbeat and hopeful to show that you can do hard things and that you can make a home wherever you go if you give it time."
'Homesick' was released on January 18th alongside the music video, listed below. On her Instagram, Mescal credits a crew of friends for filming the new video, including director Dora Paphides.
