Cracker Island will be released this Friday, February 24th.
An animated movie by Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn- the creators of the cartoon band Gorillaz has been left in limbo Albarn has said after Netflix decided not to move forward with the feature. The film, set to star the animated band, fell victim to cutbacks and the shuffling of staff, Albarn told Belgian magazine, Humo. Pitchfork has reported that the project had not left the script development stage.
In the interview with Humo, Albarn told the publication that he and Hewlett had been working on a movie of sorts since 2002, and spent time in Los Angeles recently, specifically to work on it.
The cancellation of the project, Albarn said, led to the creation of their new album, Cracker Island. The record is out this Friday, February 24th.
The band previously released ‘Skinny Ape’ in December from the highly-anticipated upcoming album.
