The eight episode series will launch on 4th April 2024.
Netflix have today released their first teaser trailer of Ripley, the upcoming reboot on the Patricia Highsmith starring Andrew Scott.
The 8 part series will be a deliciously dark noir, with Scott starring the the titular role of the iconic conman. Ripley will see the All of Us Strangers star share the screen with Dakota Fanning and actor/musician Johny Flynn.
Fans of Highsmith's work might be familiar with the 1999 adaption of The Talented Mr Ripley which starred Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow and garnered five academy award nominations.
Netflix Ripley however seems to have a stronger noir motif, with its black and white cinematography and the brooding figure Scott cuts as opposed to the fresh faced Damon.

Andrew Scott’s Tom Ripley is a grifter scraping by in New York who's then hired by a wealthy industrialist to travel to Italy to try to convince the man’s dilettante son, Dickie Greenleaf, played by Flynn, to return home. Accepting the job is Tom’s first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder.
The teaser trailer released today showcases dark academia aesthetics, sweeping landscape photography of the Italian coast and an oh-so-sinister undertone.
The story is told across 8 episodes written, directed, and executively produced by Academy Award winner Steven Zaillian of The Irishman and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo fame. Scott will also serve as producer on the series.
