Parallel to the film's announcement, Netflix has released a trailer and a first look at The Beautiful Game with official stills.
Netflix has released details of upcoming original film The Beautiful Game, starring Bill Nighy, Micheal Ward, Callum Scott Howells, Sheyi Cole, Kit Young, Susan Wokoma and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.
The film will see its global release on the streaming platform on 29th March 2024.
The Beautiful Game centres on Mal (Nighy), the manager of England's unhoused football team who takes his players to Rome with the hope of being crowned champions of the Homeless World Cup, a global street soccer tournament. At the last minute, he decides to bring with them a talented striker Vinny (Ward) who is the team's best shot at winning, but only if he's willing and ready to let go of the past.

The film is based on the real Homeless World Cup, who supported filmmakers in the process of creating the film.
The Beautiful Game also stars Irish actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, whose previous acting credits include the lead role of Nigel 'Nidge' Delaney in RTÉ One series Love/Hate and the recurrent character Ebony Maw in Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
In the upcoming Netflix film, Vaughan-Lawlor plays Kevin, the goalkeeper for the football team.

The Beautiful Game was directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You, Wicked Little Letters) and written by Frank Cottrell Boyce, with executive producers Diarmuid McKeown, Claudine Farrell and Ollie Madden and Daniel Battsek for Film4. The film also features production from Blueprint Pictures' Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin and Ben Knight, with Anita Overland and Colin Farrell.
