March 2023 sees Idris Elba reprise his role as DCI John Luther.
Luther fans were in for a treat this weekend when Netflix released two new images of Idris Elba in the upcoming film adaptation of the hit BBC television series.
The feature film, set for release in March of 2023, will see Elba reprising his role as DCI John Luther, whom he has played since the thriller series began in 2010.
The first of the two newly-released images shows DCI Luther trekking against a stiff wind atop a snow-covered mountain, his tie flying backwards, adorned in his signature tweed coat.
The second sees the detective in what appears to be an underground tunnel, having lost his tie, but sporting a far-off wandering gaze, Elba’s character is still dressed in his tweed coat.

With very little known so far, confirmed cast members include Dermot Crowley as Schenk, Andy Serkis to play Luther’s nemesis, and Cynthia Erivo - whose exact role is yet to be revealed.
When speaking to Empire magazine about the upcoming film, the fifty-year old actor said, "We break out of the gritty streets of London, we take it outside of that a little bit. That's great. It feels like now we’re entering a different life of the Luther experience."
Elba, who also works as a producer on the Luther movie, was written by Neil Cross and directed by Jamie Payne.
The film's exact release date in March of 2023 is yet to be confirmed.
