The highly anticipated trailer for tick, tick…BOOM! – the autobiographical musical by Rent creator Jonathan Larson – has been released by Netflix, ahead of its premiere on the streaming service on November 19.
The upcoming adaptation of Larson's musical will be the feature directorial debut of Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In The Heights), and stars Academy Award nominee Andrew Garfield as Larson.
Vanessa Hudgens is also set to appear in the film, alongside MJ Rodriguez, Bradley Whitford, Alexandra Shipp, Robin de Jesús, Joshua Henry, Tariq Trotter aka Black Thought of The Roots, and Judith Light.
tick, tick…BOOM! follows Larson – "a young theatre composer who’s waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical."

The film description continues: "Days before he’s due to showcase his work in a make-or-break performance, Jon is feeling the pressure from everywhere: from his girlfriend Susan, who dreams of an artistic life beyond New York City; from his friend Michael, who has moved on from his dream to a life of financial security; amidst an artistic community being ravaged by the AIDS epidemic. With the clock ticking, Jon is at a crossroads and faces the question everyone must reckon with: What are we meant to do with the time we have?"
Larson received three posthumous Tony Awards and a posthumous Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his musical Rent – having died in 1996, aged 35, on the day of Rent's first Off-Broadway preview performance.
The film adaptation of tick, tick...BOOM! is written by Tony Award winner Steven Levenson (Dear Evan Hansen), and produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Julie Oh, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
