“We are incredibly proud of Sex Education and feel indebted to our brilliant writers, cast and crew who put so much heart into making every episode,” said the show’s creator Laurie Nunn in a letter to fans. “They have worked tirelessly to bring you the final series, and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
“This was not an easy decision to make,” said Nunn, on deciding to end the show. “As the themes and the stories of the new season crystallised it became clear that this was the right time to graduate.”
The new season is set a couple of months after the end of season 3. The Moordale students start life at a new school called Cavendish College, a very progressive and woke place that makes Otis and the gang feel like “little fish in a big pond”.
Since arriving on Netflix in 2019, Sex Education has won various TV accolades, most notably an Emmy for Best Comedy Series in 2022 for its third season.
