The film has yet to announce a release date, but social media is already buzzing.
British filmmaker Andrew Haigh's newest project will feature Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal playing lovers. The director behind queer classic Weekend and A24's Lean on Pete is now taking on a "loosely based" adaptation of Strangers, an award-winning novel by Taichi Yamada.
According to Variety, the film will follow a screenwriter Adam (Scott) who "has a chance encounter with his mysterious neighbour" Harry (Mescal). The two "get closer," and Adam makes shocking discoveries while being pulled back into his childhood home. Strangers will also feature Claire Foy, and Jamie Bell, who will portray Adam's parents.
Searchlight Pictures, Film4 and Blueprint Pictures are coming together for the project which has yet to announce a release date. Some social media content suggests that they have wrapped filming.
