New flight from Mayo to London boosted by The Banshees of Inisherin tourism
The new Heathrow route will boost inbound tourism following the Martin McDonagh film's huge Oscar nomination success.
Since its debut at the Venice Film Festival, The Banshees of Inisherin has won numerous awards. Currently, travellers wishing to visit the west of Ireland filming locations must take flight from London Gatwick to Knock. With the new route that Aer Lingus is introducing, these places will be easier to reach in the future.
The new flight from London Heathrow to Ireland West Airport will replace the old route on March 25th.

To avoid circumstances "customers who have already booked for this route will be automatically rebooked on a same-day flight," Aer Lingus said.
For rebooking the flight there will be no extra cost and customers have the option of re-routing the flight. In addition it's also possible to take a voucher or opting for a refund.
Reid Moody, Chief Strategy and Planning Officer at Aer Lingus, sees great potential in the new route. According to him, the flight will boost inbound tourism and serve as a new destination and transfer hub for travellers departing Co Mayo.
"Interest in visiting the west of Ireland is very high, with the Oscar-nominated The Banshees of Inisherin showcasing the beauty of the west of Ireland to millions of people globally," Moody stated.
What starts off as an inviting Irish homestead proves to be somewhat of downtrodden and endless tale of the unremitting attempts at a lost friendship by poor Pádraic (played by Farrell) in Banshees.
The film is set on an island off the west coast of Ireland in 1923, towards the end of the gruesome civil war that pitted friends and families against each other. With central themes of justice, vengeance, and toxicity, the film brings about a slow and tumultuous turn of events on the imaginary isle of Inisherin.
