The fiftieth anniversary of his death was marked by fans last week.
A new feature documentary on the life and work of Jim Morrison will start production soon.
Jampool Artist Management (JAM INC.) which oversees the legacies of Morrison, Janis Joplin and others, will create the new piece along with the estate of the late Doors frontman.
The film will focus on the full legacy of Morrison as a writer and a poet, as well as a musician – instead of merely looking at his output with iconic 60's band.
Jeff Jampol, CEO of JAM Inc., told American magazine Billboard that "Jim Morrison has been known as the leather trousers-clad Dionysian rock star, the Greek god handsome, amazing singer, shaman and performer.
But Jim was a polymath. Jim was a poet and a writer and a filmmaker long before he ever thought about music."

Due to the film being approved by Morrison's estate, the documentary will include never before seen music, art and poetry from his journals.
The fiftieth anniversary of the singer's passing was marked by fans on July 3, earlier this month.
They congregated in Paris at the site of his grave in the Père Lachaise Cemetery, which has become a shrine for Doors fans and music lovers alike.
