On her website, director Claire Dix wrote: "Sunlight is my first narrative feature, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it."
A new trailer for Claire Dix's upcoming Sunlight film has been shared - exclusively with RTÉ. The film had its premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival on Tuesday, March 7, and will hit UK and Irish theatres on Friday, June 16.
Starring actors Barry Ward (Bad Sisters), Liam Carney (Fairy City), and Maureen Beattie (Our House), the film tells the story of two friends who want to spend "one last day in Dublin" after one of them gets a terminal diagnosis and wants "to leave this earth early."
Ailbhe Keogan, who previously collaborated with Dix on her short Take Me Swimming, wrote the screenplay for Dix's first feature drama. It was produced by Keeper Pictures with funding from Fís Érean/Screen Ireland‘s POV Female Creative Talent Scheme.
The synopsis reads: "Former-addict Leon (Ward) loves his best friend Iver (Carney) more than anything else in the world. Iver's the reason he's clean and romping about the place like a wild pinball."

"So when Iver gets a terminal diagnosis and decides to leave this earth early, Leon's not about to let him go without a fight, even if it means being a royal pain in the arse," it continues.
"He forces Iver to agree to one last day in Dublin, hoping to convince him to live. Will he succeed? The outcome knocks both of them off course: some things are so wrong they're right..."
At its premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival, Sunlight quickly sold out and received much acclaim and positive feedback afterwards.
Ahead of the premiere, Dix said in a statement: "This film was a labour of love and a treasured experience for me, personally. It's fantastic to be working with all the people at Wildcard, who have been brilliant partners in bringing our film to audiences."
