The Oscar nominated Irish actor joins the film series, alongside Lady Gaga and Steve Coogan
A new trailer for the upcoming Joker: Folie À Deux, has been released, giving the first look at Irish actor Brendan Gleeson’s role in the film.
The film sees Joaquin Phoenix reprise his role as Arthur Fleck- aka Joker- with singer and actress Lady Gaga joining the series as his love interest, Harley Quinn.
Gleeson plays a guard responsible for Fleck, who is being kept in Arkham Asylum as he awaits trial for his crimes.
Set in the fictional Gotham City, the film takes inspiration from characters in the Batman universe, but is set years before the character first begins his crusade against crime.
Directed by Todd Phillips, the film is a sequel to 2019’s Joker, a film which saw Phoenix win the Oscar for Best Actor in 2020, as well as being nominated for Best Picture.
Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir also won Best Original Score for her work on the film.
