Sofia Coppola's Priscilla, an A24 adaptation of Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir, Elvis and Me, has gotten its first official trailer. Cailee Spaeny stars in the title role, with Jacob Elordi alongside her as Elvis Presley.
The auteur's tenth feature film, Priscilla will chart the life of Presley and her controversial relationship with Elvis. In contrast to Baz Luhrmann's bombastic 2022 Elvis biopic, a maximalist odyssey through the tumultuous life of the cultural icon; Coppola's is set to be a ruminative and understated character study of Elvis's wife, and cultural icon, Priscilla Presley.
Eery and claustrophobic, the film is a less-illuminated portrait of marital loneliness, exploring the dark and problematic aspects of Priscilla's relationship with the King of Rock 'n' Roll. Premiering at Venice Film Festival in September, the film garnered rave reviews and a 7-minute standing ovation.
