"I can't tell you how worth it the wait will have been," the Galway actress revealed.
Nicola Coughlan, who plays Clare Devlin in Derry Girls, has announced that the third season of the acclaimed series is being filmed this year.
"...and I cannae bloody wait," she added.
Coughlan shared the news on Twitter, in response to a fan who wrote: "I hope you get to make #Series3 of #DerryGirls this year. It always puts a smile on my face and I hope to see Derry soon."
The actress, who was tipped as one of the Hot Press 'Hot For 2021' TV & Film Talent, went on to acknowledge that "Covid has pushed back filming several times which has been so shite" – before noting that "honestly the storylines in this series are the best we've ever done so I can't tell you how worth it the wait will have been."

Over Christmas, Coughlan shot to further international fame in Bridgerton – playing Penelope Featherington. Last month, it was revealed that the series, set in Regency era London, will return for a second season.
