The highly anticipated documentary – featuring contributions from Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Duvall and more – is launching on Paramount+ later this month.
Ahead of June's release on streaming service Paramount+ on January 17, the official trailer for the new documentary – exploring the life and influence of June Carter Cash – has been unveiled.
The iconic singer and songwriter – who was a five-time Grammy winner, and a member of the legendary Carter Family – was married to Johnny Cash from 1968 until her death in May 2003. Her husband died less than four months later.
As the trailer points out, Johnny had one of the biggest hits of his career with 'Ring of Fire', penned by June and Merle Kilgore. Describing June as "a legend hiding in plain sight", Paramount+ state that the documentary will tell a "story of talent, ambition, heartbreak and loyalty."
The documentary, directed by Kristen Vaurio, will celebrate June's own unique contribution to American music – with Kacey Musgraves hailing her in the trailer as a "bad ass bitch." June will also feature contributions from Reese Witherspoon (who played her in Walk The Line), Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Larry Gatlin, Robert Duvall, Ronnie Dunn, Carlene Carter and more, as well as previously unseen archival footage.
