The Bear and Beef dominated the television categories, with four awards apiece.
After a whirlwind year for film and television, awards season continued in full swing on Sunday with the return of the Critics Choice Awards: a star-studded night where professionals and pundits honour the top films and television of the previous year.
Actress-comedian Chelsea Handler returned for the second consecutive year as host of the ceremony, which was held in The Barkar Hangar at Santa Monica Airport in Los Angeles.
Oppenheimer cemented its front-runner status with a leading eight Critics Choice Awards including Best Picture and Best Director for Christopher Nolan, and Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr., Best Cinematography, Best Score, Best Editing, and Best Visual Effects.
It was indeed a 'Barbenheimer' event at this year’s ceremony, with summer box-office rival Barbie taking home six wins, including Best Comedy, Best Original Screenplay, Best Song for "I'm Just Ken," Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Hair and Makeup.

Elsewhere, the ceremony rocked the leaderboard for this season’s predicted winners. Emma Stone won Best Actress for her performance in Poor Things, and the lead cast of The Holdovers took home awards: Best Actor for Paul Giamatti, Best Supporting Actress for Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Best Young Actor/Actress for Dominic Sessa.
With fewer surprises and upsets, it was a Golden Globe redux on the television side. The Bear, Succession and Beef won top honours, each with multiple awards and earning Best Comedy Series, Best Drama Series and Best Limited Series, respectively.
The same is true for the acting awards, with Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook repeating as Best Actor and Actress in a Drama for HBO's Succession and Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri taking Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series for FX’s The Bear. Ali Wong and Steven Yeun both took Best Actress and Actor in a Limited Series or Made for TV Film for the Netflix Original Beef.
Billy Crudup and Elizabeth Debicki won the respective Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Drama Series categories for The Morning Show and The Crown, with the latter repeating her Globes triumph. Ebon Moss-Bachrach of The Bear and an absent Meryl Streep of Only Murders in the Building won Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series.
