The winners of the 2023 Stage Debut Awards will be announced on 1 October
Paul Mescal has been nominated for the Best West End Debut Performer at the 2023 Stage Debut Awards.
Nominated for the award alongside the Maynooth actor is Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis.
The Stage Debut Awards celebrate the best up and coming stage talent in the United Kingdom, including composers, designers, writers and lyricists as well as performers.
Mescal is being recognised for his performance in his debut West End show, A Streetcar Named Desire, shown at the Phoenix Theatre. He was also nominated for an Oscar earlier this year for his role in the film Aftersun.

His competition for the award, Ayling-Ellis, is nominated for her performance in As You Like It performed at the Sohoplace.
Other nominees for the Best West End Debut Performer include Emily Fairn, Mike Faist, Kyle Ramar Freeman, Gabriel Howell, Zachary Quinto, and Samira Wiley.
This October, Mescal is set to star alongside compatriot Saoirse Ronan in Foe, an upcoming science fiction thriller film directed by Garth Davis.
The Normal People man will also be appearing alongside Andrew Scott in the movie All Of Us Strangers, a queer fantasy drama which is due this December.
