While further casting has yet to be confirmed, the film is produced by Murphy and Knight as well as Patrick Holland and Guy Heeley.
While the movie has been described as a "continuation" of the series which saw Cillian as Shelby, the war hero turned Birmingham gangster, plot details are kept strictly under wraps so far.
The series finale saw Tommy find out that the doctor who diagnosed him with brain cancer was lying, as part of a ploy against the Shelby family with fascist leader Oswald Mosley.
“There’s a great feeling of anticipation and excitement amongst our outstanding cast and crew,” Harper comments. “We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point and believe this next chapter is going to deliver something extraordinary."
