The Belfast based film starring Moe Dunford and Joana Ribeiro is about a drug dealer trying to complete one last deal before going straight.
A new Belfast crime thriller soundtracked by Irish DJ and electronic musician Phil Kieran was released on Netflix today.
Nightride sees Moe Dunford plays a drug dealer desperately trying to complete one last deal before going straight.
Speaking about making the move into scoring films, Kieran says that it was "a natural transition. I've been making music and DJ'ing in clubs for 20 years. What is a DJ's role if not to give shape and a voice to a night, to create continuum and momentum."
"My music has been used in lots of TV and film but it's a special experience being able to design the music minute-by-minute for a film. During lockdown I really dedicated myself to creating cinematic music; my recording studio is based is in the Strand, the oldest art deco filmhouse in Ireland, so even my surroundings are inspiring. I started composing for short films like Rough but I feel like I've been waiting a long time for the right feature film to come along. When I read the script for Nightride and heard the aspirations around making the film I knew I wanted to get involved."
Director of Nightride, Stephen Fingleton, says that he chose Kieran for the soundtrack after seeing a play scored by him in Belfast.

"I saw a production of a one-man monologue by Fintan Brady called East Belfast Boy performed at the Strand Cinema in Belfast," he explains.
"It was about young DJ in Belfast going through a quarter-life crisis played by Ryan McParland. It was riveting and had a tremendous live electronic score by Phil Kieran."
