“Phoebe Waller-Bridge is an angel," Bridgers says in the cinematic clip.
Indie artist Phoebe Bridgers started her December off with a collaboration between herself and Fleabag creator, writer and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Tapping Waller-Bridge to direct a visual for her Punisher track 'Savior Complex', the black-and-white music video featured Normal People actor Paul Mescal and a chihuahua.
Bridgers has now shared some behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot, where she talks working with the acclaimed director and jokes about how she hopes they get married so that they can have the “exact same name.”
“I had sent Phoebe the whole record in an email, and I was like, ‘I’d love to pick this, this, or this song,’ and none of them were ‘Savior Complex,'” Bridgers explained.
“Phoebe was like, ‘No, we’re doing ‘Savior Complex.'” The video was shot in the British Isles, which was new for Bridgers, who had only ever made videos in Los Angeles.

“This is definitely a change of scenery,” she noted. Later, she reveals that Waller-Bridge “fired her” as the leading lady, replacing her with the chihuahua that roams around with Mescal.
Bridgers recently picked up four Grammy nominations, in the categories of Best New Artist, Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance.
In an interview with Hot Press earlier this year, Bridgers spoke about her appreciation of the hit TV adaptation of Normal People, starring Paul Mescal.
“I read Normal People and Conversations With Friends last year, and they destroyed me,” she said. “So I was not looking forward to watching the series, even though I knew I had to, because it was so sad. But they did a beautiful job, so I’m really glad I forced myself to do it.
“They did what gay French films have been doing for years, but for straight people – as far as being sex positive, and the cinematography. That book is like Catcher In The Rye, if both people were Holden Caulfield. They’re constantly miscommunicating. It’s so painful, but it’s beautiful.”
