The artist's Celebration Tour has thrown a spanner in the works for the proposed biopic, which was set to star Julia Garner.
A feature film on Madonna and her life is no longer being carried forward at Universal Pictures, Variety magazine has reported. Plans for the biopic were first announced in 2020. Drafts on potential scripts were worked on by Madonna with both Diablo Cody and Erin Cressida Wilson.
Inventing Anna star Julia Garner was set to play the role of the 80’s pop icon. However plans were scrapped when Madonna announced her Celebration Tour last week, set to start July 15th at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. The tour is meant to feature tracks from her back catalogue, dating back to her five-time certified platinum self-titled debut album.
