PREMIERE: Laura Elizabeth Hughes supports Pieta House with 'For You (Home)'
We're delighted to bring you this first look at the video for 'For You (Home)', the hopeful and heartfelt song from Dublin singer Laura Elizabeth Hughes.
With its sweeping piano riffs and that voice, it's sure to add substantially to the over 2.6 million YouTube views she's accumulated - some of them coming from R&B star Joss Stone who posted the video of a previous Laura song, 'The Dark', on to her socials.
For this release Hughes is partnering with Pieta House, the organisation that provides free therapy to those engaging in self-harm, suicidal ideation or bereaved by suicide. With their crucial Darkness Into Light fundraiser postponed due to Covid-19, Pieta House are seeking donations so that they can fully maintain their work during these difficult and unsettling times:

“I wanted to create something beautiful that would also let viewers feel the discomfort of anxiety and depression," Laura reflects. "I wanted to show the weight, the numbness, the breathlessness, the tension... but also the care that exists in the world to help relieve it. The care to overcome and step out of the dark, out of the sheer greyness, exists.
"Pieta House is that light for so many people in Ireland, and to be able to contribute to their presence and ears is a gift," she continues. "Their annual Darkness Into Light has had to be postponed due to this pandemic, and I couldn’t think of a better use for a song that chronicles a journey out into the light. In a weird time where our physical health is being threatened, being in isolation means our mental health is too, and is something that needs to be looked after with equal importance.”
If you want something to look forward to, Laura Elizabeth Hughes' Sound House, Dublin headliner has been rescheduled for November 19.
